Got home to a letter informing me I’ve won the 2019 Terence Pamplin Award for Organological Research from The Worshipful Company of Musicians. Not sure about the evening dress installation dinner at the Goldsmiths Hall - I’m more comfortable with a Tesco’s sandwich, packet of crisps and can of lager on a petrol station forecourt. Still, it comes with funding to enable me to research and build a copy of this lovely beast! Off to Musee de la Musique, Paris, next month to examine it, measure and make working drawings.
