Today, I've been writing a tribute to Ann Griffiths (1934-2020), the renowned harpist and musicologist who left us in July, for the Galpin Society Journal. She was a remarkable woman who reintroduced the likes of Dussek to the musical canon and wrote 46 articles, including one on Erard, for The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. One newspaper, praising her performance, described her as 'small, dark and distinctly Welsh' - this is how I remember her; but also incredibly warm, and generous with her time. I've also managed to find a lovely photograph - all in all a good's days work.
